About the SESE Summer School

In September 2010, the Chinese Ministry of Education initiated the China Europe Engineering Education Alliance (SEEEP), comprising 18 Chinese universities and 12 European Union universities for Educational Research at Polytechnic Universities (CLISTER). The alliance focuses on updating engineering education concepts, reforming teaching models, and expanding social cooperation in a global context.

On September 19, 2014, Beijing Jiao Tong University and the University of Catalonia Technology (UPC) in Spain jointly applied for the "Sino-European Doctoral School of Logistics, Informatization, Management, and Service Science" project under SEEEP, with ICIR at Beijing Jiao Tong University taking charge of the specific construction work. The project aims to enhance the collaborative doctoral training between China and the EU, explore diverse international cooperation models in practical doctoral training, promote the development and exchange of theoretical knowledge, skills, and qualities among doctoral students, and deepen collaborative innovation in logistics, informatization, management, and service science.

Since its inception in 2014, the Summer School has hosted six successful events in Beijing, Barcelona, Kyoto, Toronto, Vancouver, and Maryland, supporting over 200 exceptional doctoral students from more than 20 countries, including China, the USA, the UK, Russia, and Pakistan. These events have facilitated in-depth academic and cultural exchanges, helping doctoral students worldwide to overcome geographical barriers, build cultural trust, and foster emotional bonds. Over the years, the summer school has evolved into a highly influential and appealing international exchange platform, fostering cultural integration and innovative training for doctoral candidates.
