The research achievement "Capacity management for a leasing system with different equipment and batch demands", guided by Professor Zhang Juliang, collaborative with Dr. Jiao Wen, a senior lecturer at Exeter University in the UK, and Dean Yan Hong of the School of Management at Zhejiang Shuren College, was recently officially published in the top journal in the field of operations management, Production and Operations Management.

Nowadays, leasing industrial equipment is a phenomenon that is widely adopted in many industries such as transportation, architecture, and landscaping. Generally speaking, leasing companies design different types of equipment to meet the usage requirements of the lessee. In general, the leasing of industrial equipment is characterized by the use of multiple types of equipment, high customer demand, and the lessees' preferences for specific equipment types. Therefore, providing customers with the appropriate types and quantities of equipment to meet their batch demands is an important decision-making issue faced by leasing companies. The paper modeled the industrial equipment allocation problem faced by leasing companies as a Markov decision process, characterizes the properties of the optimal value function, and determines the threshold structure of the optimal strategy. Based on this, the paper further derives the relationship between the optimal strategies of leasing companies in different system states, and finds that the optimal strategy has limited sensitivity to system states.

Production and Operations Management is a top-tier journal in the field of operations management, rated as a 4-star journal by the British Association of Business Schools (ABS), and also one of the UTD24 and FT50 journals.
