AACSB President and CEO Tom Robinson Visited SEM

On December 13, 2018, Tom Robinson, President and CEO of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, paid a visit to the School of Economics and Management (SEM) of BJTU. Vice President Yu Zujun met with him and exchanged views on discipline development and quality improvement in the University.

 

On the morning of the 14, SEM Dean Zhang Qiusheng, International Accreditation Advisor Davies Howard Arthur, Director of Accreditation and Planning Office Cao Weibing and Director of International Cooperation & Exchange Office Zhou Huiyu held a discussion with President Tom Robinson in Meeting Room 611 of Siyuan East Building on AACSB Accreditation and related issues of SEM. At the meeting, Dean Zhang Qiusheng expressed warm welcome to Mr. Tom Robinson on behalf of the school. He briefly introduced the basic situation of SEM and hoped that this trip would deepen his understanding of the school. Zhou Huiyu briefed Mr. Tom Robinson on the history of the school, discipline development, school running conditions and international exchanges and cooperation. Mr. Tom Robinson gave an introduction to the current development of AACSB Accreditation and the future trend of International Accreditation, and gave guidance on the work of AACSB Accreditation in SEM.

 

In the afternoon, Vice Dean Hua Guowei accompanied Mr. Tom Robinson to visit the State Key Lab of Rail Traffic Control & Safety, the BJTU History Museum and the Teaching Museum of Transport Equipment. During the visit, Mr. Tom Robinson spoke highly of BJTUs social contribution to discipline development, personnel training and scientific research.

Through this visit, Mr. Tom Robinson has gained a clearer understanding of the School of Economics and Management of BJTU, which has laid a good foundation for the international accreditation.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business is an non-profit organization composed of business schools and related associations, established in 1916. It has been carrying out accreditation of higher management and education since 1919, mainly aiming to improve and promote the level of higher education in business administration and accounting. Only less than 5 % of business schools in the world have obtained its accreditation.
