“Think of the source while drinking the water, love the country and honor the alma mater.” On the afternoon of December 1st, 2017, the Inaugural Meeting and the First Annual Theme Forum of Logistics Branch of Beijing Jiaotong University Alumni Association, hosted by Beijing Jiaotong University Alumni Association and School of Economics and Management, Beijing Jiaotong University(SEM, BJTU) and jointly organized by School of Traffic and Transportation, BJTU, was held in Hongguoyuan to strength the contact between domestic and foreign alumni and their alma mater as well as the connections among them, unite and serve our vast number of alumni, promote our university’s fine tradition and give full play to the intelligence advantages of our alumni at home and abroad.

Gao Yan, on behalf of BJTU, expressed her warm congratulation on the establishment of Logistics Branch and heartfelt gratitude and sincere greetings to our guests and alumni from the logistics section. Gao Yan pointed out that our university, over more than one century, has become cultivating base for scientific innovation and high level talents after generations of BJTUers’ persistent self-improvement, tenacious efforts and selfish contributions. The social reputation and influence of our alma mater are enjoying a constant increase and BJTU has been successfully selected as one of “Double-First Class” construction institutions. She said that with the new era call of the 19th CPC National Congress, BJTU will actively respond to the requirements of national reform development. We will give full play to our special advantages in transportation and logistics in our schools and university, accelerate the progress of rail transit construction, serve the transportation and logistics field of our country, and carry out the interactive advancement of talent training and research cooperation, thus constantly purse our first-class construction development goals of first-class, personnel cultivating, education environment, etc. and give play to the university’s think tank function. We will cordially provide a development platform for Logistics Branch and we hope in the future the branch actively complete its role of think tank, communication bridge and dual innovation and contribute to the continuous promotion of our BJTU brand.

Ren Haoxiang, Vice Chairman of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing
Ren Haoxiang pointed out in his speech that the establishment of Logistics Branch of Beijing Jiaotong University Alumni Association and Supply Chain Finance Research Center is not only of great significance in disciplinary construction and talent training but also an event of mirth. He said that the current competition in the supply chain is becoming more and more fierce, resulting in a huge market demand and potential of future development. As social supply-side reform presently being the acting and breakthrough point of our country’s development and reform, finance plays an important role. Under the favorable conditions of the country’s preferential policy of shifting from fictitious to real economy and deepening the reform of financial system, there will be varied cooperation patterns in ranks of industries and fields of our country’s supply chain management. Meanwhile, he also made analysis of present problems in the industry like the lack of normalization in the cooperation mechanism of interested parties, the insufficient capacity in using big data, the comparatively thin content of theoretical research and the lack of specialized institutes and qualified personnel in related fields. He pointed out that the founding of the logistics branch and supply chain institute serve to meet these issues, and under BJTU brand support of professional research it will build a multi-level and multi-directional platform. This time our powerful combination will help Supply Chain Finance Research Center become a world-class institute of innovative technology research and scientific achievement transformation.

Academician Xu Shoubo delivered his speech. He said that “BJTU logistics” possesses a time-endured history and strong faculty qualification. We have exported a large number of excellent talents and enjoyed high reputation at home and abroad. Compared with traditional logistics, the development of logistics industry today has entered a new time of smart logistics that requires extensive integration of resources to achieve the combination of big knowledge, technology, economy and management of interdisciplinary, cross-system and cross-industry logistics. The establishment of Logistics Branch meets this requirement of the new era. Through multi-level, multi-channel and multi-cooperation of communication and resource exchange, we can promote the integration of various logistics industries and further improve our reputation and leading role of “BJTU logistics”. He hoped that our alumni stick to our original goal, pursue a dream in the new era, accomplish new achievements and, under the guidance of the logistics branch, work for ”integration, innovation, mutual benefit and win-win to guide logistics industrial development of China”.

Sun Changsuo presented the flag for Logistics Branch and Liu Jingfu, alumnus of 1981, chairman of China Commerce & Logistics Co., Ltd and vice chairman of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing received the Logistics Branch flag as the first chairman. Hence Logistics Branch of Beijing Jiaotong University Alumni Association was officially established.

Liu Jingfu, as the first chairman of Logistics Branch of Beijing Jiaotong University Alumni Association, delivered his speech about two subjects, namely, “What is Logistics Branch?” and ”What does Logistics Branch do?”. Liu Jingfu made figurative description by using comparisons such as “adhesive, intimacy network, platform and post-house” and elaborated detailed statement of the branch’s future planning for the development across the country and around the world. In view of domestic development, Logistics Branch will base its intellectual support on BJTU scientific research and education and unremittingly build the industrial influence of “BJTU logistics” by further enhancing the brand’s leading role in the industry side and constructing “big data” center for our alumni, manifesting the solid value of the branch’s progress. As to international development, we will set up globally authoritative journals and magazines, make fine use of internet thinking, create an ecological environment for the growth of logistics industry and integrate different elements like capital and finance to promote the industry’s robust and sustainable development. He said that the very day was the starting point for Logistics Branch’s advancement and he hoped that it would be a milestone for future development and the branch would gather BJTU’s logistics talents to make itself a first-class organization.

Representatives of Secretariat, Logistics Branch jointly read the declaration of integrity. The declaration is Logistics Branch’s promise, the code of conduct for the future development and an its initiative published to BJTU alumni of logistics industry and enterprises. The declaration aimed to strengthen our self-discipline, establish good reputation of its audiences, create a favorable social atmosphere of honesty and trustworthiness, actively fulfill our social responsibilities and promote the sustainable, healthy and rapid development of China’s logistics industry, contributing to the building of the environment and propagation of fair integrity in this trade of our country.

Then the inaugural ceremony of Beijing Jiaotong University Supply Chain Finance Research Center was held. Zhang Qiusheng, secretary of the party committee and dean of SEM, BJTU, Ren Haoxiang, vice chairman of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing, Mu Dong, vice resident of BJTU Logistics Institute and Zhang Wei, secretary general of Professional Committee of Logistics Finance, China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing jointly unveiled the nameplate and announced the official establishment of Supply Chain Finance Research Center, Logistics Institute.
In the following annual theme forum, professionals from various industrial fields had discussions on the theme of this meeting. Mu Dong, vice dean of BJTU Logistics Institute and professor of SEM, Liu Jiang, our alumnus of 1990 and CSCC(Beijing) Financial Information Service Co., Ltd, Wang Xifu, professor and director of Department of Logistics Engineering, School of Traffic and Transportation, BJTU, Li Jun, 1990 alumnus and general manager of Beijing Noah Express International Logistics Co., Ltd, Han Hua, 1999 alumnus and co-founder and chief strategy officer of Beijing Myffz Information Technology Co., Ltd separately made keynote speeches entitled Advancing Logistics Institute and Launching Supply Chain Finance, Sharing Platform of Supply Chain Finance in the Internet Age, Development Trends of Our Country’s Logistics Industry, International Logistics: Important Component of China’s Logistics and Myffz: Innovative Revolutionaries of Urban Agricultural Products Supply Chain.
